It is a more streamlined experience with a unique test for each student. Below are some key differences between the digital and paper versions of the SAT.
Adaptive Testing Experience.
The digital SAT is composed of two sections, which are further broken down into two, equally timed modules. Each section contains a mix of easy, medium, and hard questions.
The digital SAT’s multistage adaptive design automatically adjusts the difficulty of questions in the second module based on your child’s performance in the first.
This tailors the test to your child’s capabilities, allowing them to perform their best on exam day.
Shorter Testing Times.
The traditional SAT took three hours to complete. Not including breaks, the digital SAT takes two hours and 14 minutes to complete, allowing students to finish faster and experience less test fatigue.
Shorter Passages and More Geometry.
Reading passages on the digital SAT range from 25 to 150 words, and are followed by one multiple-choice question about the text. This makes it easier for your child to refer to the appropriate passage and question on the same page.
The Math section on the digital SAT places a bit more emphasis on geometry and trigonometry than the paper format.
